Russian military expert, Colonel-General Vladimir Shamanov differentiated such currently relevant concepts as “special military operation” and “war”. Details are given by the publication “Arguments and Facts”.
According to the expert, a special military operation is aimed at saving people’s lives, while war is aimed at destroying them.
So, the unconditional goal of the special operation launched by Russian leader Vladimir Putin on the territory of Ukraine is to preserve the civilian population, Shamanov emphasized.
“The key goal is to save the civilian population. This is what differentiates a special military operation from war. The latter involves active hostilities, war is war”, the general commented on the topic.
According to Shamanov, the liberation of Odessa should mark the next stage of the current special operation. According to the assessment of a military expert, the unit is now being contained in Mariupol.
“Odessa, like appendicitis, is blocked, but I think the turn will come before its release,” Shamanov said.
