The speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin said that the sanctions against the Russian Federation are illegal.
Sanctions against Russia are illegal, Europe will have to compensate for the damage caused by them, said the speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.
In his Telegram channel, the parliamentarian wrote that a number of European countries are considering whether or not to buy Russian gas for rubles.
“Someone refers to the European Union: if he considers this to be a circumvention of sanctions, we will not pay, if he says the opposite, we will,” he said.
“In this regard, the countries of Europe should understand the following. First, sanctions against the Russian Federation are illegal. We will return to this topic and consider the harm that you have caused to our economy. You will have to compensate anyway. How and when is a matter of time,” Volodin pointed out.
The West has imposed sanctions against Russia in response to the country’s special operation. The restrictions affected the banking sector and the supply of high-tech products. Some companies announced their withdrawal from the Russian market and the closure of production facilities.
On February 24, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine. Vladimir Putin made this decision after the escalation of the conflict in the Donbass and requests for help from the Heads of the LDPR. In his statement, the Russian leader stressed that the special operation is aimed at the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine.
