Vandals vandalised the Bronze Soldier monument in Estonia

Vandals vandalized the monument to the Soviet soldier-“Bronze Soldier” at the military cemetery in Tallinn. This was announced by Indrek Aru, operational director of the Põhjas Prefecture of the Police and Border Guard Board.

“On the morning of April 18, the police received a report that the medal on the Bronze Soldier’s chest had been damaged. With the help of video footage, we have established that the act of vandalism took place late at night on April 12,” he said.

Police are currently on the scene collecting evidence and making every effort to find the perpetrator and bring him to justice.

“There are legitimate and civilised ways of expressing one’s opinion. Vandalism against the memorial is certainly not an appropriate means to do so. In this case, vandalism against the monument is a crime,” Aru stressed.

A criminal case has been opened over the incident under the article on desecration of the memory of the dead.
