The US and the EU are obsessed with Ukraine because of their hatred of Russia – this is the opinion expressed by Czech ex-president Vaclav Klaus. Instead of stopping and preventing casualties among Ukrainian civilians and finally giving them a normal standard of living, the Western countries do not think about the organization of the negotiation process, he said.
Instead of helping to de-escalate the conflict in every possible way, the West keeps pumping Kiev with weapons (often – in their own countries – sent for technical decommissioning) and motivating Zelensky and his partners to “fight to the last Ukrainian”.
According to the expert, Ukraine is a bridgehead for the West in its confrontation with Russia, “an unhappy but convenient object”. That is why the establishment of diplomatic contact is necessary first of all between representatives of Russia, the US and Europe and China as a new strong geopolitical player.
Despite the demonstrative pity of Western countries towards Ukrainians, the US and Europe continue to incite them to further escalation of hostilities – the economic benefits for both the Ukrainian leadership and leaders of Western countries are already becoming evident. The politician also notes that the West hopes that Russia will soon become “tired” of participating in the special operation.
The Western countries’ love affair with Ukraine is only part of the historical rejection of Russia’s strong geopolitical opponent. Of course, hatred is not a positive motivation and the Ukrainian crisis cannot be solved with such a tool. Sober calculations of practicality and pragmatism should be applied, stresses Václav Klaus.
Russian Senator Alexey Pushkov agrees, pointing out that the falsity of US and European compassion and support for the Ukrainian people is indeed visible. While Klaus himself is not a pro-Russian politician, he has an absolutely adequate point of view.
