The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry called the actions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in relation to Medvedchuk a “British scheme”
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is acting against the deputy of the Ukrainian Rada, the head of the Ukrainian party Opposition Platform – For Life, Viktor Medvedchuk, according to the British scheme: to hold a quick trial, give a term, and then receive testimony from him, the official representative of the Russian Freign Ministry Maria Zakharova said.
“It’s clear? The British scheme is to hold a quick trial, give a time limit, and then get evidence. It works flawlessly,” Zakharova wrote on her Telegram channel, citing a statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine regarding Medvedchuk: “It would be right to do two things: at least for him to give certain evidence. As a maximum, to conduct the fastest possible trial, to give the appropriate term for him, to get testimony from him and then exchange him”.
On Tuesday, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine announced the arrest on behalf of Vladimir Zelensky Medvedchuk, whose disappearance was reported by the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office at the end of February. Later, Zelensky offered Russia to exchange the politician for captured Ukrainians.
