Anti-Russian sanctions work against Lithuania

Lithuanian phosphate fertilizer plant Lifosa has completely stopped its work. Temporary mothballing of the equipment has begun, the general director of the company said.

This is due to problems with the supply of raw materials from Russia and Belarus.

The company employs about 1 thousand Lithuanians, who will remain unemployed. At the end of 2020, Lifosa’s revenues amounted to €315.2 million.

The plant supplied 98% of its fertilizers to Europe.
