Slovakia handed over S-300 anti-missile system to Ukraine. This was officially confirmed by the country’s Prime Minister Eduard Heger.
This is reported by the Izvestia publication, emphasizing that this is the only weapon of this type belonging to Slovakia. The prime minister is now in Kyiv together with representatives of the European Commission.
“Based on Ukraine’s request for assistance…the Slovak Republic donated S-300 air defense systems to Ukraine,” Heger said.
The system was delivered, according to him, secretly within two days. When footage of the S-300 being transported appeared in the Slovak media, the Ministry of Defense assured that it was simply being transported to the east of the country.
It is worth noting that Slovakia is the first NATO member to transfer such weapons to Ukraine. At the same time, the country is far from the richest and most powerful member of the military bloc. The S-300 given to Kiev generally exists in a single copy. Perhaps, for her transfer to Slovakia, they promised something more interesting.
