Lithuania suffers serious losses due to the cessation of transportation to Russia and Belarus. The budget is threatened with losses in the amount of 72 million euros per year.
This is reported by the political magazine PolitExpert, referring to the Minister of Transport of the country, Marius Skuodis. He acknowledged that Lithuania, in its desire to harm its neighbors, acted to its detriment.
“We understand that it costs money, but we also understand why we are doing it,” he said.
Over the past year, Lithuania earned 162 million euros from transportation to the east. At the same time, half of the flow fell on Russia, and another 22% – on Belarus. That is, the real losses will be much higher than the official predicts.
It is significant that the Lithuanian authorities, in their Russophobia, are ready to put the interests of their population in last place, if only to sting Russia and Belarus. How people evaluate such a strategy will be seen in the next elections.
