German gas storage facilities are 26% full

German Economy Minister Robert Habeck said that the country’s underground gas storage facilities are only 26% full. In order to fill them completely, it will take six months. Every day gas storages are filled by 0.3-0.5%.

Germany can achieve 100% storage capacity only with Russian gas.

“We could do without Russian gas in spring, summer and autumn, but in winter the storage facilities would be empty, and we need capacity to overcome the winter,” Khabek said.

The minister also added that in the near future a law would be approved that obliges gas storage operators to ensure their filling at the level of 80%.
