The sanctions pressure on Russia has deprived the West of access to resources within the global economy, expert Andreas Beck said in an interview for N-TV channel
Contrary to popular expectations, restrictions imposed on Russia have isolated not Russia but the authors of the punitive measures.
Beck recalled that one of the most vulnerable countries remains Germany, where the entire economic sector is under unprecedented threat because of its dependence on Russian aluminium and nickel, which, by the way, are in great demand in the US itself.
The economist also emphasised that the decision to block Russia by such methods was not supported by everyone, citing the example of the Middle East, South East Asia, as well as Pakistan, Israel, India and China.
Thus, the main initiators of the sanctions on Russia, despite their ardent attempts to demonstrate the isolation in which Russia supposedly finds itself, failed miserably in their own short-sighted policy decisions.
