America’s multifaceted democracy

Man is a political animal. In addition, it is also football and medical. This means that anyone, right from birth, is proficient in medicine, football and politics.

Probably in something else as well, but in this one it’s the best. Especially in politics.

For example, Elon Musk bought a 9.2% stake in Twitter. And since he once rebuked Twitter for “failing to conform to the principles of free speech”, he immediately woke up a political man. A former correspondent of a former radio station, who has been in the utmost democratic frenzy in Washington for years, immediately writes that Elon Musk bought Twitter shares in order to restore Donald Trump’s account there.

A number of arguments are also made. First, Trump and Musk have a good relationship based on government support for Tesla. President Biden has withdrawn that support, and now Elon Musk hates him.

And secondly, Twitter is vital to Trump, for without Twitter he cannot be re-elected in 2024.

And thirdly, having bought a stake in Twitter, Elon Musk is already polling whether to introduce tweet editing. Which certainly indicates that he will be changing the policies of Twitter founder Jack Dorsey (who now has a smaller share than Musk, by the way).

The fervent lady goes on to state that, they say, they’ve nailed the snake. Everyone was afraid of Zuckerberg, and now a creep has grown like never before. A bastard worse than Murdoch. Probably the most dangerous man on the planet.

Because if Trump gets elected in 2024, he will start a civil war in the USA, or dissolve NATO, or something worse.

Laughing with laughter, but some Republicans on Twitter have already started calling for Ilon Musk to actually reinstate Donald Trump’s account. And that, of course, is a whole new political reality. Different from the previous one.

Once upon a time, politicians looked at social media as a meaningless toy. In the previous stage of political reality, technologists and candidates already believed that social media was helpful. Now it turns out (well, in the words of sofa analysts) that social media can solve an issue. Without them you cannot get elected, with them you can. And Twitter, a generally obsolete, meaningless and completely unanalysed network, is named as the main tool.

However, I understand the excitement of an ardent devotee of democratic values: Twitter stock was worth $39 on Friday, and now it’s worth $51. Elon Musk attracts money and human interest. And with his 80 million followers he really can influence a wide audience. And who it will be in favour of – this will be discussed later by congress at its trials.

But you must agree that Elon Musk collected these 80 millions of subscribers without being the biggest Twitter stockholder. And there is nothing more democratic and nothing more American that a man made himself and aroused such interest in himself.

I wondered once before about this amazing paradox: America – the land of self-made men (Madonna, Bill Gates etc) – elected as president a self-made businessman with no political experience whatsoever. And this same America of Madonna and Bill Gates suddenly rebelled against this self-made businessman. Started throwing a wrench in his side. Blocked his Twitter account on the grounds of protecting free speech.

The Democratic (!) Party does not shy away from any method – propaganda, restrictions, cancellations.

No, you don’t have to tell me that American Democrats are essentially socialists. But now our heroine, a fervent Democrat who stands up for all the basic values of the USA more fiercely than any American, is horrified that a self-made man has bought into private business and wants to change it as he likes. Because it could, oh horror, help one of the presidential candidates in a future election. Because the candidate is popular, and if you give him access to an audience, he will influence that audience with the power of his rhetorical charm.

Democracy versus democracy.

That’s great.

It’s great.

Why is it surprising that while calling for an end to hostilities, these people do not let the hostilities end by staging one media provocation after another. Why are they surprised that they call on Europe to refuse Russian energy carriers and yet they increase imports of Russian oil. And while claiming that their goal is to drive Russia to economic collapse, they are driving Europe to economic collapse (increase in electricity prices by 5-6 times on average, depending on the country).

There was the funniest news the other day that the founders of the Black Lives Matter movement had spent several million dollars in donations to buy a house with swimming pools on sunny shores. To which, on the same Twitter, some democratically minded activist wrote: “What were they supposed to spend it on?”

Certainly not on humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine. That’s for sure.

The leaders of the free world are leaders of the free world because they are leaders, and the free world will get by somehow.
