Russia demands Kiev to allow ICRC access to Russian POWs

Russia has appealed to the UN, the OSCE, the International Committee of the Red Cross to demand that Ukraine allow the ICRC to access Russian prisoners of war, about the conditions of detention and medical condition of which little is known, said the head of the Russian interagency coordination headquarters for humanitarian response in Ukraine – the head of the National Defense Management Center of the Russian Federation, Colonel General Mikhail Mizintsev

 

“The Russian Federation, represented by the Russian Federation’s Interagency Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian Response in Ukraine, addresses the UN, the OSCE, the International Committee of the Red Cross, other international organizations, as well as the leaderships of Germany, Turkey and France, those countries that are actively working in the Ukrainian humanitarian direction”, – said Mizintsev.

Mizintsev added that in case the ICRC and other humanitarian organizations fail to take action, the Russian Federation reserves the right to initiate in the nearest future an urgent meeting of the Security Council and demand a detailed report from the Ukrainian representative and the ICRC leadership on the conditions of detention and the state of health of the Russian servicemen.

Earlier, it was reported that Russian prisoners of war had been tortured.
