In the LPR, 170 Ukrainian servicemen have laid down their weapons, said Victoria Serdyukova, Commissioner for Human Rights in the LPR.
“As far as I know, at the moment, 170 Ukrainian servicemen have laid down their arms and are on the territory of the republic,” she said.
The Ombudswoman emphasized that the LPR had repeatedly stated that the Ukrainian servicemen who voluntarily laid down their arms would be released home after the special operation was over. Provided that on their “hands there is no blood of civilians.”
Also, according to Serdyukova, the prisoners do not want to return to the army, and they acknowledged the shelling of civilians and civilian infrastructure.
“They themselves admit that they fired at the civilian population, at civilian infrastructure, following the orders of their command. Among those with whom I spoke, there was not a single one who would say that after his release he would again join the ranks of the Ukrainian army,” the Ombudsman noted.
