The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry said that negotiations between Russia and Ukraine should continue. The Russian Federation saw much more understanding on the issues of Crimea and Donbass.
The Kremlin is preparing a response to Kyiv’s proposals to resolve the conflict. Moscow noted that there is some progress in the negotiation process.
This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference following talks with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
“Negotiations must continue. You heard how our negotiators in Istanbul commented on the last round, where for the first time the Ukrainian side put down on paper its vision of the agreements that need to be reached. And these agreements should, in general, be formed first. We are preparing a reaction, there is movement forward, primarily in terms of recognizing the impossibility of Ukraine to be a bloc country, the impossibility for Ukraine to seek happiness in the North Atlantic Alliance – a non-nuclear, non-bloc status”, the Russian Foreign Minister said.
According to Lavrov, Ukraine has shown much more understanding on the issues of Crimea and Donbass. As the politician said: “a much greater understanding of yet another reality.”
“I mean the situation with Crimea and Donbass,” Lavrov continued. “Regarding potential further contacts, they are now being worked out and will be announced.”
