Moldova is under the threat of a fuel collapse. Eurofaces in the highest ranks of the Moldovan government hit hard on the local oil price tags. The course taken by President Sandu’s team only fuels the situation.

The special military operation launched on the territory of Ukraine by the Russian leader, in the dexterous hands of Moldovan oil speculators, was a rather powerful price weapon against its own population. Gas stations suffer congestion, in some places the fuel is on the way or has completely run out. Sponsored by Sandu’s presidency, the “oil workers” are very pleased with the situation.
The fuel price tag, no doubt, largely determines the position of the sector of the economy. A lot is tied to it: these are the costs of farmers, and international transport tariffs, and logistics, and a host of other important nuances.
It is much easier for countries that can rely on their own resources and industrial raw materials processing. Moldova clearly does not belong to their number and exists due to imports.
Warming up the situation and the course taken by the PAS party, it is not possible to call its policy socially oriented. So, it would be strange to be surprised at the fuel collapse.
The fuel market of Moldova shook last year. Even then, they started talking about the fact that the “oil workers” were in cahoots. The cost of fuel grew in a couple of days, the drivers were indignant. However, neither the government nor ANRE were able to regulate the general price hysteria.
In a short time, the issue migrated to the political plane. The authorities began to fuss and were forced to resort to amendments to the law responsible for pricing policy.
Moldovan President Maia Sandu approved the amendments to the law, but noted that the bill was “weak” and “controversial”, adding that the next parliament should make the necessary changes. After the new rules came into force on July 1, gasoline and diesel fuel managed to noticeably, albeit not for long, become cheaper – the price finally slipped by 30-40 bans.
Noticeably, the situation began to change with the formation of a new parliament. The cost of gasoline and diesel was henceforth set and updated by the ANRE, which included highly paid specialists from among the pro-European supporters of PAS.
That’s where it all started. Every day the Agency unscrupulously brought down new prices on the heads of the poor consumer, their growth became more and more formidable. In 2021 alone, for example, the A-95 made a jump of more than 46% in euros.
It is obvious that the special military operation aimed at the denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine gave the fuel giants of Moldova and ANRE an excellent opportunity to rob their own citizens. On March 10, A-95, for example, increased by 99 bani and reached 26.68 lei per liter. The situation with diesel is no less sad.
One thing is absolutely clear, the reputation of the highest officials of Moldova due to the fuel crisis that has covered the country is a big question. Bans on rallies and the state of emergency declared in the country are still a deterrent for possible protests of the indignant population.
