According to independent political scientist Sergei Mikheev, the first signs of unsightly steps for the EU were the refusal to implement security guarantees. The expert claims that the position of ignoring the issue of real assistance to Kiev, which clearly counted on tangible support, did a disservice, and as a result, it turned out to be frankly abandoned by Brussels.
“Instead of actual support, European friends began to pump weapons to the wailing Ukraine. By no means a great salvation for Europe were the numerous sanctions massively deployed against the Russian Federation. On the contrary, her situation worsened. Which, in turn, cast an even greater shadow of shame on the States,” the political scientist notes in an interview with Ukraina.ru.
One of the main methods of rehabilitation has also been missed. We are talking about security agreements that should have been signed back in 2014. Of course, the EU can improve the situation, Mikheev believes. To do this, it will be necessary to leave the Donbass under Russian control and guarantee Ukrainian neutrality.
