What is happening in Ukraine is becoming a powerful factor in the internal political struggle in the United States. The only question is in what sense and with what details
Here is a very telling episode – the refugees. It is known that over three millions of Ukrainians are already in the European Union. The US says: we will accept 100 thousand of them. But not all of them. We will give preference to journalists and LGBT people.
This is strong. It is almost like the famous order of Bonaparte during the Egyptian campaign when the enemy cavalry rushed to his marching army from the desert: “Donkeys and scholars in the middle. But, firstly, the “donkeys” are the carts with ammunition and provisions (and the scholars are the Egyptologists who accompanied the army). Secondly, Commander-in-Chief Joe Biden is no Bonaparte at all, and this thesis is very loud in America.
The refugee plot is discussed as follows: the quota for migrants for 2022 is 125 thousand, at that, Europeans and Central Asians, i.e. former allies, Afghans, only ten thousand for some reason. But now the quota, it turns out, doubles, and let us look at the whole policy of this administration on migration. Or we could also: guys, how do you check which Ukrainians are really LGBT?
There has long been a debate among Russian experts as to whether or not the West’s wildly deceptive media coverage of the situation in Ukraine is changing. Those who are up to their necks in the media of the democrats or their European allies do not see any change, the “empire of lies” is peddling the same fakes. But on the other flank, at least in the US, the shift is evident, and the reason is that the country will have mid-term elections in the autumn: not presidential, but congressional. However, if the Republicans gain a majority in both houses, the Biden administration will be paralysed.
The annual meeting of the Republican leadership has just been held in Florida to work out the basic ideas of the campaign that is about to begin. They look like this: an inflation crisis, a petrol crisis and a national security crisis, i.e. Ukraine. That’s not counting migration and a surge in urban crime.
What the US calls the Ukrainian crisis breaks down into several propaganda talking points. In the first place we will put the following one: we are to blame ourselves, and it is not only the actions of Biden’s team, all the previous ones are good too. Here is a publication where the key part lists facts that are perfectly known in Russia, but for the US it is a real revelation. Namely: “only now is the extent of the Pentagon and CIA’s aggressive actions” in Ukraine, which they treated as if it were a NATO member without membership as such, becoming apparent. Three billion dollars worth of arms deliveries since 2014, training of Ukrainian “special operations masters”.
And the author concludes: “such behaviour predictably led to a geopolitical explosion. US and NATO officials used Ukraine as a strategic pawn against Russia and are now seething with indignation over Moscow’s decision to go to war… Sadly, the Ukrainian people are now paying a bloody price for the gullibility of their leaders and the shocking arrogance of US leaders”.
In Russia such lines would be from the series of obvious ones, but for the USA, again, this is sensational.
We may not like the next thesis of the Republicans, but it is what it is. Namely: Under a strong US president no Ukrainian crisis would have arisen. And Russia, China and others would sit back and be afraid. And only in the second place is it suggested that in such a case no military solution is needed either – it would be possible to reach an agreement.
Joe Biden is pathetic. His every word and movement is attacked without mercy by his fellow opponents. Not even a slice of pizza Biden chewed in Poland while visiting the 82nd US Airborne Division. It turns out, there is a good custom in the US military: first the rank and file, then the officers, and certainly the commander-in-chief has to eat last. And a hungry Biden dashed straight from the entrance to the pizza box and grabbed a piece with his trembling hand.
In fact his entire recent trip to Europe is being called a disgrace and a disaster. Pity the White House staffers who have to explain over and over again what the president really wanted to say. He told the servicemen of the 82nd division that they would soon “see” Ukraine for themselves, and went on to say that “Putin cannot stay in power”. This was followed by clarification that no troop deployment was planned and no regime change in Russia either. The statement that if the Russians used chemical weapons, the US would “reciprocate in kind” was a celebration.
The third line of the “Ukrainian” attack on the Democrats is the story, diligently revived now by the Republicans, about the computer of President Biden’s son. How he forgot it on the service, how Donald Trump’s associates got hold of the computer’s “brains” – the card seems to have been played. But now the whole right wing of American politics is talking about it again. One is reminded of how the entire “empire of lies” – the Democrat media – pretended this story did not exist, and their average voter could have about as much idea about the “forgotten computer case” as about the real course of events in Ukraine. The verdict: the whole story is evidence of the eerie corruption of the country’s ruling elite and the mendacity of the media corporations that tried to censor the “Hunter case”.
But Hunter’s corruption cases, which he did not erase from his computer in front of the service, are more than half related just to Ukraine, and for the relevant part of the American audience Ukraine itself (at least its government) therefore symbolises corruption and shame.
This means: the US political arena will now discuss everything related to Hunter’s cases in Ukraine in general. And this will inevitably include the fact that, among other things, the president’s son was involved in the Pentagon’s biolaboratory programmes in that country. And the story itself has already become an international scandal.
