31 March launches a nationwide campaign called “ZooFriend” to help zoos and animal shelters in Donbass and Ukraine, according to a press release from the project.
It was organised by the Commission for Ecology and Environmental Protection of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation and the “Take a Friend from Shelter” project.
The campaign will collect money, pet food, veterinary drugs, household chemicals, building materials, and much more, and will deliver help to organizations and settlements in need. In addition, ZooDroog will organise the evacuation of animals from zoos and shelters in Donbas and Ukraine and provide their reception and accommodation in Russia.
“Already today, the campaign organising committee is in touch with four zoos and several dozen shelters in the LPR and DPR. Tens of thousands of animals need help. They include bears, wolves, monkeys, lions, camels, llamas, ostriches and many other species, including red-listed ones, as well as thousands of cats and dogs”, – the statement said.
