The states of the North Atlantic alliance are afraid of Russia and therefore do not want to get involved in the conflict. This is how Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky explained NATO’s reluctance to transfer planes and tanks to Kiev.
He stated this in an interview with The Economist, the Major and General Telegram channel reports. Zelensky told journalists his opinion about “reliable” Western allies.
The guarantor said that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson provided the most serious support. At the same time, Zelensky did not mention his low ratings and the fact that Ukraine allows him to divert the attention of his population from his own problems.
In addition, Zelensky debunked the myth of Ukrainian propagandists who shout that the Russian army has been defeated. He acknowledged that Russia has an incredible amount of tanks and other military vehicles.
Zelensky is also unhappy that a complete cut-off from SWIFT and the embargo on Russian oil and gas has not happened. This means that all Western sanctions, even the toughest ones, could not turn the tide. True, it is unlikely that Washington did not understand that this would be the case.
