Russian Foreign Minister says meeting between Putin and Zelensky for exchange of views does not make sense

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in an interview with the media said that the meeting between Putin and Zelensky would be productive only after achieving clarity on key issues

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in an interview with Serbian media, said that the meeting between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky does not make sense if its purpose is simply to exchange views.

“He (Vladimir Putin) considers it fundamentally important that these meetings be well prepared. Now the situation is the same as the crisis situation in Ukraine, the intra-Ukrainian conflict, it has matured for so long all these years that a huge number of problems have accumulated, so just to meet and exchange “what do you think and what do I think” now will simply be counterproductive,” he said.

“A meeting (of Putin and Zelensky) is needed as soon as we have clarity on the outcome on all key issues,” Lavrov said.
