Soaring energy prices have hurt the pockets of American citizens with annual incomes of up to $50,000. Due to the rejection of Russian gas, fuel and raw materials, members of low-income social groups suffer losses. It is reported by The National Interest.
Energy prices in the US have crept up to record levels. As follows from the report of the American Automobile Association (AAA), the other day the average cost of unleaded gasoline in the United States reached 4.23 conventional units per gallon (3-4 liters). At the same time, analysts advise car owners not to relax and prepare for even greater expenses.
The data was presented in the American conservative magazine The National Interest.
“I think prices could easily jump to $5 a gallon if things continue to get worse,” John Kilduff, a partner at Again Capital, told CNBC.
The expert also noted that the growing cost of fuel is hitting the poorest US citizens the most, as a result they are forced to reduce their spending on non-essential goods.
A significant problem for the American consumer is not so much the increased cost of fuel as unreasonably high rental costs and sky-high grocery price tags. Food alone takes about 15% of financial income from the average American.
