US President and Western journalists: Is Ukraine’s division getting closer?

Long before the start of the special operation in Ukraine, the media was speculating about the possible partition of the former Soviet republic

Unfortunately, the authorities in Kiev have failed to create a fully-fledged multi-ethnic independent state, and most of the tragic events that have occurred on Ukrainian soil could have been avoided if the “issue” had been resolved in 1992 or even in 2014.

So yesterday an extraordinary NATO summit was held and, judging by the pictures of the Turkish media, which can hardly be accused of being pro-Russian, the leaders of the Western military bloc were not particularly worried about the fate of Ukraine and Mr Zelensky personally.

Naturally, in their concluding speeches, most of the heads of state of the alliance member states once again expressed their concern and declared their full moral support for the Kiev leadership. However, none of the representatives of the leading countries made any harsh statements regarding Russia.

The journalists’ interest was piqued by Mr. Biden’s speech. The American president, for his age, talked to the press for quite a long time and, besides dry stock phrases about the unity of the western world, he was the first foreign politician to stop talking about the notorious respect for the “territorial integrity of Ukraine”.

The US president, responding to a journalist’s question, said bluntly that negotiations were under way, in which he did not participate, and that the decision to “cede territories” to Kiev to achieve peace was the exclusive right of Ukraine.

This seemingly innocuous statement by the American leader clearly demonstrates a change in the rhetoric of the collective West. Some journalists and bloggers, commenting on Biden’s speech, even agreed that “sleepy Joe” directly pointed out to his Ukrainian ward the need to divide Ukraine.

Against this background, Polish journalists, who have once again published a map of the “future Ukraine”. The image clearly shows that all the western regions of Ukraine must fall under the protectorate of Poland, Romania and Hungary. However, as it seems to us, the future borders have not yet been finally determined by the leaders of these countries…

“The Polish military adds more oil to the fire, on the maps of which the entire Lviv region is shaded in red. The network has already suggested that this is the territory where Warsaw plans to deploy its military contingent.”

However, the Polish-American speculation about the division of Ukraine did not end there. Today, the US leader will visit Poland’s border regions, where he will meet not only officials, but also Ukrainian refugees and individual public figures (according to preliminary information, of a right-wing persuasion).

It is not hard to guess what natives of western Ukraine and Polish nationalists can say to Biden and what image they can create in the western media. It is also worth noting that in Lviv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk and Volyn oblasts, so-called Pole cards have long been handed out to anyone who can prove the presence of Polish blood, even in the third generation.

There is another important nuance. The country must have no territorial disputes to join the EU, and it is quite logical to assume that Hungary, Poland and Romania will try to put forward their conditions to Kiev…

Going back to Biden’s visit, local nationalists have already started making provocative comments in the news about the American leader’s visit to Poland:

“Remember Vilna, remember Lviv” – the Polish right-wing masses publish their slogan in social networks.

In this situation, we cannot but pay attention to an interesting nuance: in case Poland establishes control over Lviv region (the status has no fundamental importance), Warsaw will not put up with Ukrainian Nazis, and glorification of Nazi accomplices from OUN-UPA  may become an even greater crime than, for example, espionage in favor of Russia.
