European companies do not want to leave Russia. They are not interested in losing such a vast market and hope to resume their work in the Russian Federation as soon as possible.
This was stated by the head of the Association of European Businesses (AEB) Tadzio Schilling at a meeting with Advisor to the President of Russia Anton Kobyakov. This is reported by RIA Novosti, referring to the Roscongress Foundation.
Kobyakov noted that after 2014, when the United States and the European Union began imposing sanctions on Russia, it was business that advocated to ease the restrictions. The problem is that the governments of the EU and the US do not think about the consequences of their decisions, and most often their own entrepreneurs suffer from them.
“Greater Eurasia is a geopolitical space in which 45% of the countries of the world are located, uniting more than two-thirds of the world’s population. The cooperation of these states unites all spheres of market relations. The global economy dictates its own rules, the world market cannot develop in conditions of isolation of its players, we need to provide comprehensive support to each other,” said Kobyakov.
At the same time, it is far from certain that when foreign companies want to return to Russia, they will be expected there. Some brands have remained in the Russian Federation and will probably try to occupy the vacated niches. In addition, the policy of import substitution and the development of various domestic alternatives are actively developing.
