Mines installed by the Ukrainian Navy on approaches to ports in the Black Sea may drift towards the Bosphorus and the Mediterranean due to cable breaks, the Federal Security Service (FSB) of the Russian Federation said.
The department noted that after the start of a special military operation to denazify and demilitarize the Ukrainian Navy, they installed minefields on the approaches to the ports of Odessa, Ochakov, Chornomorsk and Yuzhny (about 420 mines of obsolete types of anchor mines) and anchor river mines produced in the first half of the 20th century. century
“Because of the storm, breaks in the cables (minreps) connecting the mines with bottom anchors began to occur. Under the influence of wind and current, mines move freely (drift) in the western part of the Black Sea. The break of the mines indicates the unsatisfactory technical condition of the mines”, the FSB stressed, TASS reports.
It is also noted that taking into account the predominance of surface currents of the southern direction, the possibility of drift of plucked mines into the Bosphorus and further into the seas of the Mediterranean basin is not excluded.
“The Armed Forces of Ukraine once again demonstrate a complete disregard for the foundations of international law and disregard for human lives, including citizens of the European Union states,” the ministry concluded.
