As of March 18, about 26 million hryvnia (about $889 thousand) remained on a special account, which the National Bank opened to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the NBU reported
The NBU decided to open a special account to collect funds to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 1 March. Since then, according to its data, almost 12bn hryvnia (about $400mn) have been transferred to the account, which has already been squandered.
“In total, more than 12.2bn hryvnyas in equivalent have been transferred to the special account since it was opened. In particular, almost 3.6bn hryvnyas in equivalent were received from abroad in foreign currency”, – the statement said.
The regulator now asks to urgently continue donations: Ukraine is once again standing with its hand outstretched.
