British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has warned of difficult times for the West if it cuts off Russian gas and oil.
“I have no doubt that there will be difficult times ahead. The process of weaning from Russian oil and gas, from hydrocarbons in general, will be difficult for the world. But it is possible. We can further increase our consumption of low-carbon energy and continue to lead the world towards carbon neutrality. We can reduce the unsustainable bills being billed to households and businesses across the country,” Johnson wrote in an op-ed for the Daily Telegraph.
According to him, by the end of March, the UK government will present a new energy security strategy, which will focus on the use of nuclear energy and all its renewable sources, including tidal, hydro and geothermal power plants in the country. It is worth noting that currently in Britain, renewable sources account for about a quarter of energy consumption.
