WP: U.S. is considering the possibility of transferring S-300 complexes to Kiev

The administration of US President Joe Biden is discussing with allies from Europe the possibility of transferring air defense systems and other weapons to Ukraine. This was reported by The Washington Post newspaper, citing its sources from officials.

“Consultations are being held ahead of a visit scheduled for next week by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to meet with allies in Brussels and Slovakia, which, along with Poland and Romania, has expressed its readiness to send military assistance to Ukraine,” the newspaper writes, TASS reports.

The article notes that Slovakia has S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems. At the same time, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby, at a briefing for journalists, refused to specify which systems the United States could additionally transfer to the Ukrainian military.

According to a Washington Post source, the Ukrainian authorities are seeking to be provided with the S-300 air defense system and Washington is currently consulting on this issue. It is also noted that the United States considers unacceptable the offer of Poland to transfer American military aircraft to Kiev.
