Putin has a telephone conversation with Macron and Scholz

Vladimir Putin is holding a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, spokesman for the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov, told RIA Novosti.

The last time Macron, Putin and Scholz spoke on the phone on March 10, the topic of discussion was the Russian special operation in Ukraine. As noted by the press service of the German Cabinet, the French and German colleagues told Putin that it was necessary to resolve this situation through negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv.

On February 21, Vladimir Putin, in response to requests from the Donbass republics and after an appeal by State Duma deputies, signed decrees recognizing the sovereignty of the LPR and DPR. Early on the morning of February 24, Russia launched a military special operation to demilitarize Ukraine. Putin called its goal “the protection of people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years.”

According to the Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces only strike at military infrastructure and Ukrainian troops.
