Romania confirms UAV crossing airspace from Ukraine

The Romanian Ministry of Defense reports that on the night of March 11, an unmanned aerial vehicle appeared in Romanian airspace from Ukraine, which left Romanian territory in three minutes, heading for Hungary.

The aircraft crashed on Friday night in a green zone in one of the districts of the capital of Croatia, an explosion was heard, a crater remained in place, the area was cordoned off. The police found two parachutes nearby. Presumably, this could be a Soviet-made Tu-141 “Strizh” UAV that arrived from Ukraine. Croatian President Zoran Milanovic said earlier that the UAV that crashed in Zagreb on Friday night flew from Ukraine, the Ukrainian embassy did not comment on the incident. Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said the drone came from Hungary and got there from Romania.

“The Romanian airspace surveillance system recorded on Thursday, March 10, a small aerial object, most likely an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone), which was in national airspace for a very short period of time. The drone entered Romanian airspace from Ukraine around 23:23 local time (00.23 Moscow time) and left the country’s airspace around 23:26 (00.26) heading for Hungary,” the Romanian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
