US predicts global energy crisis due to sanctions against Russia

U.S. Senator Chris Coons said the U.S. administration is preparing to ban oil purchases from Russia and predicted a global energy crisis in this regard

“Frankly speaking, we are going to face a global energy crisis… We may well see a doubling of energy prices”, – Koons added, not ruling out that Russia itself may go for supply restrictions to put pressure on the West.

He called for alternative sources of raw materials, including Venezuela and Iran, but suggested Canada as a starting point.

Earlier, the White House informed that US President Joe Biden would announce new sanctions against Russia on Tuesday because of the events in Ukraine. The USA intends to impose a ban on oil imports from Russia.

We shall remind you that the anti-Russian sanctions caused gasoline prices to rise in the US and Europe. Gasoline prices in the USA today hit an all-time high of $4.31 per gallon.
