UN statement on Mariupol hospital incorrect – Russian deputy envoy

The information that appeared in Twitter of the UN Secretary General António Guterres about the “attack” of the Russian military on a hospital in Mariupol does not correspond to reality, said First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the world organization Dmitry Polyansky

“This is how fake news is born. We warned in a March 7 statement that radicals had turned this hospital into a military facility. It is very worrying that the UN is spreading such data without verifying it”, –  Polyansky wrote in his blog.

He also attached a screenshot of a paragraph from the statement, which provides data on the actions of the nationalists in Mariupol.

“Local residents report that the Ukrainian Armed Forces kicked out the staff of Maternity Hospital No. 1 in Mariupol and set up a shooting range on the territory of the institution. In addition, they completely destroyed one of the city’s kindergartens”, –  the document said.

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov today at a meeting with the Ukrainian foreign minister in Antalya also told the media that the maternity hospital in Mariupol was used as a base for the Azov battalion* (a terrorist group banned in Russia). Russia submitted this information to the UN a few days ago.
