Vladimir Putin has asked children’s ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova to submit proposals for introducing amendments to legislation on the temporary accommodation of orphans from Donbas in Russia
Regardless of whether they have Russian citizenship, and said that in this situation one should think about the interests of children first and foremost.
During the meeting with the head of state, the Ombudsperson for Children’s Rights said that a register of those orphans who have documents has already been formed, and proposed to start arranging temporary accommodation for children with Russian citizenship.
“Why only Russian nationality? With any citizenship”, – Putin retorted.
Lvova-Belova explained that there were legislative delays that would have to be eliminated.
“You tell us which ones – we will eliminate them. These are extraordinary circumstances, and I think it is necessary to think not about bureaucratic delays, but about the interests of children. You make suggestions, we will make amendments to the legislation. We will appeal to the State Duma, I am sure that the deputies will support you,” the President said.
