The cost of gas in European markets exceeded $3,800 per thousand cubic meters

The price of gas futures in Europe has once again updated its historical maximum, amounting to $3,000 per thousand cubic meters of blue fuel. This is evidenced by the data of the London stock exchange ICE, reports RIA Novosti.

At the opening of trading, the price of April futures on the index of the most liquid TTF hub was $2,367 per thousand cubic meters of gas. However, in just a few minutes it exceeded $2,500 for the same volume.

Later, the cost of blue fuel updated the previous historical record: the price of one cubic meter of gas rose to $3,000. Earlier it was reported that Europe increased the volume of gas transit through the territory of Ukraine.

According to EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell, the EU cannot suddenly become independent of Russian gas. Recall that back in the spring of 2021, the cost of gas fluctuated between $250-300 per thousand cubic meters. According to experts, the sharp rise in prices for blue fuel is associated with the low level of occupancy of European underground storage facilities and high demand for liquefied natural gas in Asia.

As of 11:30 am (Moscow time), the price of a thousand cubic meters of gas on the European TTF exchange exceeded $3,800.
