Putin discussed the course of the special operation in Ukraine with the head of the European Council

Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of the European Council Charles Michel. The parties discussed the conduct of a special military operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine.

“Putin outlined the position of Russia in connection with the conduct of a special military operation to protect the republics of Donbass. The humanitarian aspects of the current situation were discussed in detail. Vladimir Putin, in particular, stressed that the Russian military is taking all possible measures to save the lives of civilians. The main threat comes from nationalist formations, which in fact use the tactics of terrorists, hiding behind the civilian population”, the Kremlin press service said.

It is also noted that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have several times declared a “silence regime” for the evacuation of the population along humanitarian corridors. However, the Ukrainian national battalions prevent this by resorting to violence against civilians and all sorts of provocations.

“The President of Russia called on the European Union to make a real contribution to saving people’s lives, to put pressure on the Kiev authorities and force them to respect humanitarian law,” the message says.
