Retired US Army Colonel Douglas MacGregor said that Russia will not tolerate US troops and missiles on its border just as the US will not tolerate Russian troops and missiles in Cuba. The West ignored the Russian president’s words, and he finally took action
“In the first five days the Russian forces were, frankly, too delicate. Now they have corrected themselves, so I believe within ten days it will be over. But the question is what Zelensky will do. Russia has said quite clearly that it wants a neutral Ukraine. It could have been over days ago if he had accepted it – they would have stayed at the borders. I think Zelensky is a puppet. He’s putting a large number of his citizens at unnecessary risk”, – McGregor said.
He also noted that most of the information that comes out of Ukraine turns out to be complete lies within a day or two, and the Ukrainian segment of the media is replete with fakes.
“I think the most heroic thing he could do now is to come to terms with reality. Neutralise Ukraine. That’s not a bad thing! A neutral Ukraine is as good for us as it is for Russia. It would create a buffer, which, frankly, both countries want. But I think he was told to wait, which is tragic for the people who have to live through it”, – the US army colonel summed up.
McGregor stressed that Putin would under no circumstances allow Ukraine to join NATO.
