The European Union can’t become suddenly independent of Russian gas, but must strive to reduce dependence by all possible means, said EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell
“We cannot remove dependence overnight, but it has to be reduced by all possible means that we have”, – he said.
Earlier, on March 4, the price of gas in Europe reached a new record high of $2,400 per thousand cubic meters.
Also on Friday, the German Chancellor said that they have already started to buy gas bypassing Russia, but continue to receive gas, coal and oil from Russia. According to him, Germany has been preparing to buy gas outside Russia.
