Hundreds of missiles that the German authorities intend to send to Ukraine cannot be used due to corrosion and mold, Bild writes.
“The missiles are at least 35 years old, they were taken out of service in 2012. Reason: “Micro-cracks in the drive set of ammunition, which led to corrosion and oxidation.” The wooden boxes in which the rockets are stored were so moldy that Bundeswehr soldiers were only allowed to enter the warehouses in special protective equipment”.
Residents of Germany in the comments to the article ironically noted that this is not mold, but “protective eco-friendly bio-paint”. As previously reported, Berlin has decided to provide Kiev with 2,700 Strela anti-aircraft missiles.
Ukraine received several hundred Stinger man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS) this week from the United States, NBC reported.
