Turkey continues to successfully maneuver between Russia and the West: it categorically rejects the West’s policy of creating a wall and imposing sanctions against Russia
The Turkish government has made it clear to the West that it has no plans to impose sanctions against Russia because it wants to act with its own priorities in mind. The Turkish Interior Minister called those who call on Russia to return the S-400s because of the events in Ukraine mentally retarded.
It is classic Ankara policy to sit on two chairs. But now there is a persistent feeling that Turkey has realised something: Ankara is not ready to face Russia as the Anglo-Saxons want it to.
“We must act with our country’s priorities in mind. There has to be a party capable of negotiating with Russia. Who will talk to Russia when everyone burns their bridges? We have no plans to impose sanctions to keep this channel open”, – said presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalın.
Turkish authorities understood that “the world is undergoing a process of radical change”. However, Erdogan stressed that Turkey would never compromise to any alliances, but would not turn its back on Russia or Ukraine either
