Putin signs decree on retaliatory measures against U.S. and other countries sanctions

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree “On the application of special economic measures in connection with the unfriendly actions of the United States and foreign states and international organizations that have joined them,” the text of which is published on the official website of the Russian leader.

“In accordance with the decree, exporters must sell 80% of the foreign exchange earnings credited from January 1, 2022. The procedure for the sale of foreign currency by exporters will be established by the Central Bank. Putin has banned Russian residents from providing foreign loans in foreign currency and crediting foreign currency to bank accounts outside of Russia”, RBC quotes the presidential decree.

Also, Russian residents are prohibited from transferring money without opening an account using electronic means of payment provided by foreign suppliers.

Recall that several dozen countries, in particular, the EU countries, Canada, Japan, Australia and others have imposed sanctions restrictions against Russia. Restrictions affected Russian banks, exports of high-tech products, as well as the Central Bank, the Ministry of Finance, RDIF and other large state corporations.
