Almost 53 thousand refugees from the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics have crossed the Russian border, said the acting head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry Alexander Chupriyan
“By 19:00 February 20, more than 53,000 residents of the two neighbouring regions of Ukraine had crossed the border”, – Chupriyan said.
The refugees were taken by 142 buses to 101 temporary accommodation centres.
Earlier it was reported that 30 Russian regions were ready to accept refugees from the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics.
A reminder that many refugees do not officially register, but go directly to their relatives, so official data and information in the media may differ.
