The upcoming US national defense strategy is doomed to failure

The preparation of a national security strategy is currently on pause due to the aggravation of the Ukrainian crisis – while it raises questions and concerns among political experts.

The growing cooperation between Russia and China continues to excite Western countries. Politicians and experts argue that the United States does not have enough resources to confront two main opponents at the same time.

They point to the power of China and the wealth of Asia and argue that Asia should be the priority. As Washington pivots toward Asia, wealthy European nations such as Germany must step up to secure NATO, policy experts say.

However, we cannot observe decisive opposition from the Federal Republic of Germany to Russia. This is connected both with militaristic neutrality, and with the detached position of Germany on the issue of escalation, and with dependence on the energy resources of the Russian Federation. That is, in the event that the American defense strategy takes the Asian-Pacific vector, the influence and authority of the States in Europe will significantly decrease – the partners will not provide them with proper assistance.

In short, publishing a defense strategy that can only deal with one of the great rivals of the United States (which is what is expected of the forthcoming national defense strategy) is doomed to failure.
