Head of Transcarpathia called Russians brothers of Ukrainians

The head of the Transcarpathian regional state administration, Viktor Mikita, said that the peoples of Russia and Ukraine are fraternal, RIA Novosti reports.

“Russia is following this. Although our brothers also live there, they are our brothers, indeed. But the leadership of Russia is actually unfriendly, it does not understand that the younger generation is being brought up in our country,” Mikita said during a meeting of the regional council.

In turn, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that the government will study this statement and take appropriate measures.

“We will conduct an appropriate study, and, if necessary, an investigation of his words. If there are legal grounds for this, we will take appropriate measures,” Shmyhal said during a speech in the Verkhovna Rada.
