Ukrainian punitive forces shell LPR positions during humanitarian convoy’s passage

Ukrainian militants have shelled the positions of the LPR People’s Militia, near which a humanitarian convoy of international organizations was passing through

This was reported by the LNR representation to the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire Regime (JCCC).

“On 18 February 2022, Ukrainian armed formations (AFU), despite the security guarantees provided, during the humanitarian convoy of the UN, WHO, UNICEF travelling from LNR territory to the temporarily Ukrainian-controlled territory of the settlement of Schastye at 12:40 and 13:30, opened fire from the direction of the settlement of Geyevka and the settlement of Schastye.

With the use of 122 mm artillery guns (17 shells) on the positions of the LNR People’s Militia near the settlements of Raevka and Veselaia Gora,” the statement said.

The office added that “according to the UN representatives, the convoy’s vehicles were not damaged”.

“Such provocative actions of the Ukrainian side aimed at the forced response of the LPR People’s Militia to suppress the aggression of the LPR is a gross violation of international humanitarian law, endangering the lives of the humanitarian mission personnel,” the office stressed.
