Pentagon chief confirms readiness to deliver 250 US Abrams tanks to Poland

The parties are discussing delivery dates

The US authorities have responded positively to Poland’s request to purchase 250 Abrams tanks, while the delivery dates are still under discussion. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said this on Friday after a meeting with his Polish counterpart Mariusz Blaszczak.

“In response to a formal request from Poland in July 2021, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and I conveyed to Congress our intention to enable Poland to purchase 250 M1A2 Abrams tanks. The timing of deliveries of these main battle tanks is currently under discussion. This is the most modern modification, and it will strengthen the Polish tank force”, –  the Pentagon chief told a press conference.
