US Permanent Representative to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield has demanded that Russia provide evidence that it has no plans to invade Ukraine
So what do we do now? Write a letter reading “As of February 16, 2022, Russia has no plans to invade Ukraine. Date. Signed”? Will it be enough for the world community which has finally gone mad?
And will one letter suffice, or will a new one be written every day and solemnly handed personally to Biden, Macron or Scholz (depending on whose electoral plans require saving the world at a given moment)?
Are you, for example, aware of the major news in the small towns of Waterloo (Iowa, population 67,000), Glen Falls (New York, population 20,000) and Johnstown (Pennsylvania, 19,000)? And there’s only: Kremlin, Putin and Russian troops on Ukraine’s borders.
And what to do if Joe Biden or The Sun announces the invasion date for this day? Run with the new one? Should we add “I swear” before the signature?
What is going on in the information field today has already crossed the boundaries of, in fact, absurdity. Now this bacchanalia is naturally crippling people’s minds. Including those who have spent the night with cameras on the rooftops of Kiev.
Ukraine’s economy is already dead. There is nothing that can be done about it and it will take years to rectify the situation. To the three decades it takes to return to the “pre-Maidan” levels of 2014, add one or two more as a gift from the US and Britain.
I understand that appealing to reason is no longer useful. But maybe some basic survival instincts of the Ukrainian authorities will kick in? Reflexes of the lower step of Maslow’s pyramid of needs? That’s the only hope now.
