NATO has no new date for “Russian invasion” – Spanish defence minister

Spanish Defence Minister Margarita Robles has said that NATO has no announced date for a “Russian invasion of Ukraine”, she said at a meeting of the alliance’s military chiefs in Brussels

Robles said the unity of representatives from all member states of the alliance was that although diplomacy was the only way, no country could prohibit another country, in this case Ukraine, from becoming a member of NATO from a position of strength.

“We have not seen any de-escalation on the part of Russia. It is true that today the invasion that has been talked about has not happened, but the threat of invasion remains”, –  the Spanish military chief said.

Responding to a journalist’s question about the promised invasion, Robles said: “Today the US Secretary of Defense has not talked about the invasion on this day, but in the minds of everyone it has become clear that the invasion can happen soon, although we do not know when. There is no definite date.”
