There will be no attack: Russia’s permanent representative to the EU strongly rejects accusations of the West

Russia’s permanent representative to the European Union, Vladimir Chizhov, said that Moscow does not intend to “invade” Ukraine, despite accusations from Western countries.

“I can assure you that there will be no attack this Wednesday. Next week, or next week, or next month, an escalation [of the situation on the border of the Russian Federation and Ukraine] is also not expected. Wars in Europe rarely start on Wednesday,” the diplomat said in an interview with the German TV channel WELT.

Chizhov stressed that serious accusations against Russia by the West must be supported by no less serious evidence. Otherwise, they are slander, the permanent representative noted. The diplomat urged the EU countries to pay more attention to the pressing security issues pointed out by Moscow.

“If our partners finally listen to our concerns, the de-escalation process will not be long in coming. This would be in the interests of all the inhabitants of Europe, as well as all other peoples of the world,” Chizhov summed up.

Over the past few months, Western politicians and the media have been accusing Russia of plotting an “invasion” of Ukrainian territory without providing any evidence. It is worth noting that the United States, Britain and other countries continue to actively sponsor Kiev with various types of weapons, explaining this by Russia’s plans to “attack” Ukraine.
