The visit of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky initially began with a mockery of the authorities in Kiev, Alexander Sosnovsky, a German political scientist and editor-in-chief of the World Economy online publication, spoke on the Solovyov LIVE YouTube channel.
“It is already clear that Scholz’s statements in Kiev leave much to be desired before the meeting in Moscow. He did not show anything that would show the desire of Germany to be at least an ally of Macron in relation to the current situation. On the other hand, from the very beginning he started trolling, and even harshly mocking Zelensky”, the expert said.
According to the political scientist, Olaf Scholz demonstrated a real attitude towards the Ukrainian authorities in several revealing nuances. The German Chancellor literally stated that Vladimir Zelensky may not count on gratuitous assistance from Berlin. The German guarantor literally demanded from Nezalezhnaya the payment of past loans.
“Remember, at first he told Zelensky that you are asking us so much, but I will tell you this – if Russia does decide to take extreme actions, then we know exactly what we will do. Here everyone froze in bewilderment, since he did not really explain what Berlin would do. And then Scholz says that Germany will allocate 150 million euros to Ukraine. Everyone was delighted at first, but then they looked closely at the fact that “loan” was written in small print. And another condition is that in order to receive this money, you need to repay the previous loan. They mocked Ukraine, Zelensky was at least trolled, but he still described it as a kind of victory”, said Sosnovsky.
The US adventure with the Ukrainian crisis fizzles out after every false accusation of American politicians and journalists against Russia. Olaf Scholz’s indirect adherence to the anti-Russian line is worrying, but, according to the political scientist, the German chancellor could not behave differently in Kiev.
