The government of the new German chancellor continues to defend the positions of the former leadership of the country and does not intend to supply lethal weapons to Ukraine, so as not to be in the center of a military conflict. This opinion was expressed by the German political scientist Alexander Rahr.
Earlier, Berlin once again refused to supply weapons to Ukraine, as was the case under former German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Instead, Germany will send about 5,000 helmets to Kiev as military aid. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba called such a decision unfortunate and said that Berlin “can do much more for Kiev.”
Rahr noted that countries that have supplied lethal weapons to Ukraine automatically become direct participants in the military conflict, as it will be necessary to send their military technicians and instructors to train the Ukrainian Armed Forces to use unknown types of weapons.
“This will lead to a new tension in relations with Russia. But Germany, France and many other old Western countries, and, by the way, it seems to me, Mr. Biden in America, do not want this,” the political scientist said in an interview with Ukraina.ru.
As News Front previously reported, US President Joe Biden addressed the Russian people during his speech and stated that Washington and Moscow “are not enemies to each other.” In addition, the American leader noted that the United States does not intend to place missiles on the territory of Ukraine or send its military there.
