China calls on U.S. to stop escalating tensions in Ukraine

The US rhetoric on the situation in Ukraine destabilizes the situation in the region, China hopes for the US to stop spreading false information, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a briefing on Wednesday.

“In the past few days, the United States has escalated the threat of war and created tension, which has become a serious blow to the economy, social stability and people’s lives in Ukraine,” RIA Novosti quoted the diplomat as saying.

Wang Wenbin stressed that such actions by the US administration undermine the negotiation process.

“We hope that the relevant parties will stop publishing such false information and take more action to promote peace, mutual trust and cooperation,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman added.

Recently, Western countries have been persistently accusing Russia of allegedly preparing an invasion of Ukraine, linking Russian military maneuvers on their territory to this.

Moscow rejected such statements and explained that “stuffing” in the press loyal to Washington about “Russian aggression” serves as a pretext for pulling NATO weapons to the borders of the Russian Federation.

Russian officials at various levels have emphasized that the country does not threaten anyone and does not plan to attack anyone.
